Don’t Let it Be December

by Laurie Miller

I don’t want to die in December,

Yes, the pain will be bad but more than that, Sad!

The ground will be so hard.

To say goodbye on winter's black veil

would be such a cruel ending to my life’s tale.

Don’t wrap me in yellow, although it might inspire the sunshine yet to come and banish the cold

If the day must come in winter,

January, already dark, dreary and depressing might be best

Maybe no one would notice

one more sad day in the month.

And February just will not do, as can you imagine the boring gab?

Oh, she just turned this age or oh, she would have been that age….

When the time comes, I hope we can talk

and you will remember the conversations,

the games we played,

the songs we sang but mostly the love.

And don’t be too sad….

Unless it IS winter and you know I am mad!!!!
