In Edinburgh the rain comes and goes quickly, small puddles on the ground and droplets upon your head are sometimes the only evidence it actually happened. I don’t mind - I’ve always been a pluviophile, lover of rain and all things dreary……..

I’ve found Edinburgh to be busy, in a quiet sort of way. A way in which I can still hear the crows cawing from above or stamping towards me in the hopes of receiving a piece of flaky croissant. The leaves rustling still stirs my attention, just as the scents of fall tingle in my nose………

It all started on December 14, three days before we were due to drive six hours to Portland for an overnight snooze before catching a 530 AM flight. We woke up to 14+ inches of snow, an incredibly gorgeous winter wonderland. The snow was expected to continue through the week and we began to feel nervous that we would be unable to drive to Portland and/or that our house/dog sitter, Cece, would be unable to get to us the following day. Cue the obsessive checking of facebook pages where local folks chatter about road and weather conditions, the weather channel and input from local folks that we have come to know…….

Our most recent adventure was short but sweet! I had discovered a fabulous new place along the Columbia River in Boardman and wanted to bring Gramma & Emma back to enjoy it. It is quite a drive so combining it with a visit to family friends in Heppner made it even more appealing……

A day late, a dollar short but better late than never!

Last month the 3GenChics headed to the Oregon Coast for full moon appreciation at our favorite beach getaway in Netarts. We made a decision to mark this lunar event each month with some sort of special something and walking on the beach under said full moon sounded good for October…..

After years of admiring the Alsea River as we drove alongside it, either to or fro the coast, we set out one day to finally explore this fairly short river (only about 48 miles), which runs along Highway 34, from the town of Alsea to the Pacific Ocean in Waldport. Since moving to Corvallis, we have been trying to find my most favorite happy place—a good place to spend the day at the river, floating, swimming, eating and relaxing…….

GRAMMA'S Vantage Point- And so it begins! My journey, my new life begins with our cross-country trip with my girls!! The trip begins leaving Morgan County in my rear view and driving all the way to Cracker Barrel in Zanesville for our first stop! Off and on rain, 5 pee stops, a maintenance oil light warning (nothing to worry about), hellacious truck traffic on 70 west all the way to Indy, crazy bad potholes on 70 west out of Columbus, a few snacks, Illinois drivers are crazy swervers! But approx 550 miles down and 2000 to go! YIKES! Emma's playlist and Leslie's driving skills made day one a big success! Stopped for the night in a delightful town, Moline, Illinois. Quote for today provided by by very insightful daughter Leslie, at a rest stop along the way, "Have you ever noticed how different the shade feels then being in the sun? I mean, it’s hot but it feels so much better." No dear, had never thought of that…….
