The Weather’s Fine
by Leslie Shalduha
I’d like to say the weather’s fine
But in my heart, I know I’d be lyin’
I’ve come to Happy Camp, my heart’s desire
To pursue my dreams of writing afire
Turned up the heat
Pulled up a seat
Searched deep in my mind
Hoping to find
A memory of something I almost recall
Whilst I look out upon the squall
Wind and rain, mist and fog
Soaking it up, just me and the dog
Fingers flying over the keyboard
While far away my daughter lives on a fjord
Think of her, in the far far North
As I sip hot tea on the wraparound porch
The dog frets and worries, pacing to and fro
What in tarnation, unsure if the wind is friend or foe.
Watching the waves, rolling, rolling
Thunderous, it resonates in my soul
